John Kirk BSc (Hons)
John's experience includes responsibilities ranging from Principal Mechanical Engineer in a national consultancy, Technical Director for a large design and build contracting organisation and various directorships in a number of M&E companies. His experience is primarily in design of a wide range of M&E systems and troubleshooting of existing installations. Applications covered over the years include Cleanrooms, Ice Rinks and Swimming Pools, in addition to general HVAC in industrial and commercial complexes.
As a research fellow at the University of Strathclyde John was part of the group which developed the simulation algorithms behind IES VE, one of the most widely used energy simulation suites worldwide. John continues to use energy simulation techniques as a forensic tool on energy analysis projects.
Callum Kirk BEng (Hons) MSc
Callum has worked as a design engineer on a variety of environmental design projects from 2002, including Schools HVAC, Cleanrooms, Commercial Kitchens, Swimming Pools, Industrial Paintshops, Offices, Residential conversions and Leisure Facilities.
From 2011 he has worked as a designer on a variety of biomass, district heating, heat pump and gas conversion projects for local authority, housing association and private clients.
Recent experience included Contract Administration and Principal Designer on Schools’ oil to biomass and oil to gas boiler replacement programmes. Callum carried out the Independent Metering Report and RHI applications for the aforementioned projects as well as many others since the RHI was introduced.
Callum worked closely with the Energy Systems Research Unit at the University of Strathclyde and The Campbell Palmer Partnership on continued development of the “Biomass Decision Support Tool” which was developed for the Carbon Trust and is recommended under the Scottish Government’s Biomass Framework. Callum beta tested additional features of the software and recommended various improvements which were implemented in the latest version of the software.
